Bill Ivey
Bill has a business degree from the University of Alabama and a Master's degree in history from UAB.
Prior to moving into the information technology sector, he was a basketball coach and teacher for 25 years.
Included in that career were stints at Jones Valley High School, Hewitt-Trussville High School, UAB, and Homewood High School.
In 2000, Bill shifted careers by becoming an account executive at New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Birmingham.
He achieved Senior Account Executive status in his first full year, and also served as sales manager for 3 years.
Bill is on the board of directors of TechBirmingham and has organized their Tech Friday events for the past 4 years.
He also serves as president of the local chapter of the International Association of Certified Microsoft Partners.
In 2003, Bill founded the Central Alabama Youth Foundation, a non-profit which uses basketball as a magnet to attract
young men who have "slipped through the cracks." In recent months, four CAYF participants have signed college basketball scholarships.
He is married to Cathy, a chemistry teacher at Mountain Brook High School.
They are the parents of David, an assistant basketball coach at the
University of Alabama at Huntsville, and Mary, who recently received her
Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Georgia and now works for
Leadership Birmingham.
